Waste, eDiverter and Linen Chute System Installation

Surry Hills Village is a landmark mixed-use residential development by Toga Constructions, located at 397-399 Cleveland Street, Redfern NSW, on the border of Surry Hills and Redfern in Sydney’s inner south. The development spans six building cores with varying heights and operational requirements, requiring a coordinated mix of waste, recycling, and linen chute systems across the precinct.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed four waste chute systems across Buildings A, B, C, and D, an eDiverter chute system in Building J for waste and recycling, and a Smart linen chute system also within Building J, providing a combined total of 45 chute pipe levels. Acoustic lagging was applied to chute pipe sections throughout, and bypass configurations were incorporated across all cores at lower levels where intake access was not required.

Buildings A through D each discharge to basement 3 via Type A bottom discharge doors configured to suit 1,100L MGBs, with a chute offset incorporated in Building C and a custom discharge configuration designed and installed to suit the discharge room layout. The Building J eDiverter system discharges to basement 3 via an eDiverter discharge system to suit a 1,100L MGB. The linen chute discharges to basement 2 with a custom offset to suit a sorting table and a Smart System control box enabling electronic locking across all four linen intake doors.

Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all six chute shafts to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the development.
