Waste Chute Upgrade and Carousel Compactor Installation

Century Apartments is a multi-residential development by Brisbane Housing Company, located at 67 Linton Street, Kangaroo Point QLD, within Brisbane’s inner-city precinct approximately 2km from the CBD. The development required an upgrade to its existing waste chute and discharge infrastructure to improve waste room performance and replace ageing equipment that was no longer suited to the building’s operational demands.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to carry out a targeted upgrade to the existing waste chute system, focused on the removal and replacement of the discharge infrastructure and the installation of new waste room equipment to support more efficient and reliable building operations. The works were carried out with minimal disruption to residents and building management throughout the programme.

The scope included the removal and disposal of the existing chute offset and small packer, followed by a high-pressure clean of the waste room to prepare the area for the new installation. A custom chute offset was then supplied and installed to suit the new carousel with compactor configuration, ensuring the discharge point aligns correctly with the updated bin arrangement within the waste room.

A three-bin 660L MGB carousel with compactor system was supplied and installed, providing an efficient and space-saving waste compaction solution suited to the high-occupancy demands of a multi-residential development. The carousel configuration supports organised bin rotation and reduces the frequency of bin changeovers for building management, improving the overall efficiency of waste room operations.

Full system commissioning was completed following installation, including operator training, documentation, and the provision of an operation and maintenance manual. A 12-month warranty was provided across the upgraded system, giving Brisbane Housing Company confidence in the long-term performance and reliability of the new waste room infrastructure.

The completed upgrade provides Brisbane Housing Company with a modern, compliant, and low-maintenance waste management solution tailored to the operational needs of Century Apartments, supporting efficient building operations and improved waste room functionality for residents and facilities staff alike.
