Waste Chute System Installation

The Woollahra Collection is a luxury mixed-use residential development by Icon SI, located at 60-80 Oxford Street and 2A James Street, Woollahra NSW, in one of Sydney’s most prestigious eastern suburbs. The development’s boutique scale and high-end character required a waste management solution that performs reliably while meeting the acoustic and compliance expectations of a premium residential environment.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install two waste chute systems across Lifts 1 and 2, each configured to suit the layout and occupancy requirements of its respective core. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across a combined six chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.

Each core services three chute pipe levels, with six fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed across all operational levels in both cores. Both discharge rooms are located at basement 1, each fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit a 240L MGB. Lift 2 is additionally fitted with a linear system configured to suit a 240L MGB, supporting efficient bin management within the basement waste room.

Acoustic lagging using a 25mm thick 5kg/m2 barrier bonded to convoluted foam was applied to all three chute pipe sections in Lift 1, minimising noise transmission through the building structure and supporting the quiet and refined living environment expected within a luxury residential development. Both discharge rooms were also specified to receive Embelton NRD isolation mounts to ceiling-mounted equipment, ensuring structure-borne noise from the waste system is appropriately managed at basement level across both cores.

Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout both shafts.

The completed installation provides Icon SI with a durable, compliant, and acoustically considered waste infrastructure solution suited to the boutique scale and premium character of The Woollahra Collection, supporting reliable long-term performance within one of Sydney’s most prestigious residential addresses.
