Plantation Retirement Resort Maroochydore is a retirement living development by Vantage Building Group, located at 19-23 Parker Street, Maroochydore QLD, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The facility’s retirement living environment and multi-level configuration required a compliant waste management solution with enhanced acoustic specifications to support the comfort and wellbeing of its residents.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a waste chute system tailored to the facility’s vertical layout and occupancy requirements. The system services seven chute pipe levels, with seven fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at every operational level. The discharge room is located at ground level, fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit the selected bin size.
Premium acoustic lagging using 55mm thick 32kg/m3 foil-faced glass-wool insulation blanket rated R1.3 was applied to all seven chute pipe sections, minimising noise transmission through the building structure and maintaining a quiet and comfortable environment for residents. This high-performance acoustic treatment is particularly well suited to a retirement living environment where resident comfort is a primary operational consideration.
An odour relief vent and flushing spray system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of the chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft.
The completed installation provides Vantage Building Group with a durable, compliant, and acoustically considered waste infrastructure solution suited to the operational demands of Plantation Retirement Resort Maroochydore, supporting efficient building operations and a comfortable environment for residents and staff on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
