Alara is a mixed-use residential development by WSCG, located at 262-270 Rocky Point Road, Ramsgate NSW, within Sydney’s Bayside area. The development comprises two residential buildings each with two lift cores, requiring four independently configured waste chute systems to suit the layout and occupancy demands of each core.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install four waste chute systems across Block A and Block B, servicing four lift cores across the development. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across a combined 21 chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.

Block A incorporates two waste chute systems across Lifts 1 and 2. Lift 1 services six chute pipe levels with five fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed across operational levels, incorporating a bypass configuration at ground floor. Lift 2 services five chute pipe levels with four fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors across operational levels, also incorporating a bypass configuration at ground floor. Both cores in Block A discharge to basement 1 via minor offset discharge configurations.

Block B incorporates two waste chute systems across Lifts 3 and 4, each servicing five chute pipe levels with fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at every operational level. Unlike Block A, both Block B cores include intake doors at ground floor with no bypass configuration required. Both cores in Block B also discharge to basement 1 via minor offset discharge configurations.

Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of each chute shaft across all four cores, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft.

The completed installation provides WSCG with a durable and compliant waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and configuration of Alara, supporting reliable long-term performance across all four cores within a mixed-use residential environment in Sydney’s Bayside area.
