821 Carter Stage 3 is a high-density residential development located at 23 Uhrig Street, Lidcombe NSW, forming part of the broader Carter Street urban renewal precinct in Sydney’s inner west. Delivered by Karimbla Constructions, the project contributes to one of Sydney’s most significant residential growth corridors and required a waste management solution capable of servicing a large and varied building configuration.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install four waste chute systems across four building cores, each configured to meet the operational demands of its respective building. The systems deliver efficient waste transfer across multiple levels, reducing manual handling requirements for building management and supporting streamlined waste room operations throughout the development.
The installation spans 89 chute pipe levels in total across Buildings A1, A2, B1, and B2, with 88 fire-rated self-closing intake doors installed across operational levels. Building A2 serves levels 1 through 41, and Building B2 serves 42 chute pipe levels with intake doors from level 2 through 42, incorporating a bypass configuration at level 1. Buildings A1 and B1 serve smaller level counts, providing waste chute access to the lower-rise sections of the development.

Discharge configurations vary across the four cores to suit the bin infrastructure of each building. Buildings A1 and B1 are each fitted with a Type A bottom discharge door configured to suit a 660L mobile garbage bin, while Buildings A2 and B2 are each fitted with a linear track system without compactor, also configured to suit 660L MGBs. All discharge rooms are located at ground level across all four cores.
Integrated vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of each chute in all four buildings, supporting airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene. Each vent system discharges through to open air on the level above the topmost intake, ensuring effective ventilation throughout each shaft.

The completed installation provides Karimbla Constructions with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste infrastructure system suited to the scale and complexity of 821 Carter Stage 3. The system supports reliable long-term performance and integrates efficiently into the building’s operational infrastructure across all four cores.
