Waste Chute System Installation - 593-595 Gardeners Road, Mascot NSW

593-595 Gardeners Road is a mixed-use residential development by Stonehenge Constructions, located in Mascot NSW within Sydney’s inner south. The development comprises 64 residences across an eight-storey mid-rise building, positioned within a well-connected urban precinct with close proximity to Mascot train station, Sydney Airport, and surrounding retail and commercial amenity. The building’s two-core configuration required independently designed waste chute systems to suit the differing heights and layout of each core.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two waste chute systems across Cores 1 and 2, each configured to meet the operational demands of its respective building core. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across multiple levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.

Core 1, serviced by Lift A, services four chute pipe levels spanning ground floor through to level 3, with four fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at each operational level. Core 2, serviced by Lift B, services eight chute pipe levels spanning ground floor through to level 7, with eight fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed across all levels. Both cores discharge to basement 1, each fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit a 240L MGB.

Each core is fitted with a carousel with compactor system configured to suit a 240L waste MGB, supporting efficient waste compaction and bin rotation within the basement waste rooms. Eight 400-degree angle brackets were also installed within Core 2 to support the chute installation within the building structure.

Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of each core, with Core 1 venting at level 3 and Core 2 venting at level 7, each discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of the chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout both shafts.

The completed installation provides Stonehenge Constructions with a durable and compliant waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and configuration of 593-595 Gardeners Road, supporting reliable long-term performance across both building cores within a high-density inner-city residential environment.
