Q1 Resort & Spa is an iconic high-rise residential and resort development in the heart of Surfers Paradise, featuring luxury apartments, resort facilities, dining and leisure amenities. Paynters was engaged for the construction works associated with the project.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions completed a full replacement of the existing waste chute system for Paynters, installing 38 custom 560mm galvabond steel chute pipes servicing Levels 3 to 40, with gaps around each chute and slab penetration sealed using polyurethane acoustic sealant. Each level is fitted with NCC 2022 compliant, fire rated self-closing intake doors with smoke seals, meeting current high-rise fire safety standards.
The system discharges via a heavy duty hot dipped galvanised offset from Level 2 into Level 1, double lagged for acoustic performance and secured with stainless steel banding at nominated centres. At the Level 1 bin room, a heavy duty discharge fitted with a non-combustible cut off door, fusible link and manual pulley handle directs waste into a portable compactor.
Installation was carried out across six level cycles in line with the site’s construction programme, coordinated closely with Paynters throughout. The completed replacement gives Q1 Resort & Spa a compliant, reliable waste disposal system built to support the building’s ongoing operation as a high-rise residential and resort landmark.
