Green Square Site 15 is a landmark mixed-use residential development by Mirvac Constructions, located at 77-93 Portman Street, Zetland NSW, within Sydney’s Green Square urban renewal precinct approximately 7km from the CBD. The development spans three buildings across five cores, each requiring an individually configured chute system to suit its specific layout, level count, and discharge arrangement.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a dual waste and recycling chute system in Building A and four waste chute systems across Building B Cores A, B, and C and Building C, providing a combined total of 94 chute pipe levels and 88 fire-rated self-closing intake doors across all operational levels. Six bypass configurations were incorporated across all five cores at level 1. Custom support brackets were also supplied and installed across Buildings B and C to address oversized slab penetrations required for mechanical ventilation.
Building A is the largest core, servicing 23 waste and 23 recycling chute pipe levels using 610mm galvanised steel chute pipes, with a carousel compactor system installed for the waste stream and a linear track system without compactor for the recycling stream, both configured to suit 1,100L MGBs at basement 1. Buildings B and C each service 12 chute pipe levels using 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes, with integrated single bin compactor systems configured to suit 1,100L waste MGBs installed in all four cores at basement 1. Customised linear track systems with linear actuators were installed across Building B Cores A, B, and C and Building C to automate the open and close status of each discharge door, improving operational efficiency and waste room management across all four cores.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all six chute shafts across all five cores, discharging through to open air on the level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft. A premium shop drawing service with fast-track delivery was provided across all five cores to support the project programme.
The completed installation provides Mirvac Constructions with a durable, compliant, and technically comprehensive waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and complexity of Green Square Site 15, supporting efficient building operations and reliable long-term performance across all three buildings within Sydney’s Green Square urban renewal precinct.
