Located close to major universities, transport corridors, and employment hubs, the project required a high‑capacity waste handling solution capable of supporting continuous daily use while maintaining operational efficiency, hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a high‑performance dual residential waste chute system incorporating integrated smart chute control technology. The installation includes durable 610mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing Levels 2 through 18, providing reliable and efficient vertical waste and recycling transfer across the building’s residential floors.
Each level is equipped with fire‑rated, self‑closing interlocking waste and recycling chute intake doors fitted with smoke seals, supporting building fire safety compliance while ensuring secure and controlled system operation. The integrated smart chute HMI system with SMS functionality enables monitoring and controlled operation of hopper access, helping manage high‑traffic usage typical of student accommodation environments and reducing the risk of misuse or system overload.
At the uppermost levels, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems support airflow management, odour control, and chute hygiene, ensuring consistent performance even under high daily usage. At ground level, waste and recycling streams discharge to dedicated handling equipment, including a linear compactor system for waste and a linear track system for recycling, designed to suit 1100L bins and streamline servicing logistics.
