Somerset Rise Stages 2 and 3 is a low-rise residential development by J Hutchinson, located at 38-58 Somerset Avenue, Narellan NSW, within the heart of the Narellan Town Centre precinct in Sydney’s south-west Macarthur region. The development spans two construction stages across three building cores, each requiring an individually configured waste chute system to suit the layout and operational requirements of its respective building.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install three waste chute systems across Buildings C, D, and E, providing a combined total of 12 chute pipe levels across all three buildings. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across multiple levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.

Each building services four chute pipe levels, with four fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at every operational level across all three cores. Signage was fitted to each intake door to support correct use by residents. All three chute shafts run straight up and down, with discharge rooms located at basement level in each building.

Each building is fitted with a carousel system without compactor configured to suit a 360L MGB, supporting efficient bin rotation and organised waste collection within the basement waste room of each building. Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all three chute shafts, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft.

The completed installation provides J Hutchinson with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and operational demands of Somerset Rise Stages 2 and 3, supporting reliable long-term performance across all three building cores within the Narellan Town Centre precinct.
