Oran Park Metro Apartment is a residential development delivered by Richard Crookes Construction within Sydney’s rapidly expanding south west growth corridor. Designed as part of a master planned community close to retail and transport, the building required a reliable and compliant waste management solution capable of supporting medium to high density living and daily resident volumes.
To meet these needs, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a high performance waste chute system engineered for durability, hygiene and long term performance. The 510mm galvanised steel chute runs vertically from Level 5 down to the basement discharge room, providing smooth and controlled waste transfer from every floor.
Each level is fitted with fire rated, self closing intake doors that allow residents to dispose of waste safely while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. These doors form a key part of the building’s fire safety strategy while also supporting clean and secure waste entry.
At basement level, waste is processed through a high efficiency carousel compactor system designed to suit 660L mobile garbage bins. This compaction system increases bin capacity, reduces the frequency of collections, and improves overall waste room efficiency, which is critical in modern residential developments.
A roof level vent and wash down cleaning system is integrated into the chute system to provide airflow and automated internal cleaning. This helps control odours, improve hygiene, and protect the long term performance of the chute, ensuring a reliable and low maintenance waste solution for both residents and building managers.
