
Hannaville Apartments is a multi-residential development by Sam Hanna & Co, located at 6 Thomas Street, Wollongong NSW, within the heart of Wollongong’s CBD. The development provides high-density residential accommodation in a central urban location, requiring a practical and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing two building cores across multiple levels.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two waste chute systems across Buildings A and B, each configured to suit the vertical layout and occupancy requirements of its respective building. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across multiple levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.
Building A services six chute pipe levels across levels 1 through 6, with fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at each of the six operational levels. Ground floor does not include an intake hopper, with the chute running straight through that level without a door. The discharge room is located at basement 1.
Building B services seven chute pipe levels across ground floor through to level 6, with fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at all seven operational levels. The discharge room is also located at basement 1. Both buildings run straight up and down with no offsets incorporated within the scope.
Each building is fitted with a Type A bottom discharge door configured to suit a 240L MGB, providing a straightforward and reliable discharge solution at basement level. Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed above the top level of each building, exiting through the roof above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout each shaft.
The completed installation provides Sam Hanna & Co with a durable and compliant waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and operational demands of Hannaville Apartments, supporting reliable long-term performance across both building cores within a high-density CBD residential environment.
