Chevron One Residences is a landmark luxury residential development by Icon Construction, located at 36-44 Stanhill Drive, Chevron Island, Surfers Paradise QLD. The development’s scale and premium specification required a bespoke waste chute solution capable of servicing 41 levels while meeting project-specific requirements for an exposed chute installation contained within a fire-rated enclosure rather than a traditional shaft.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a waste chute system tailored to the building’s vertical layout and the project’s specific technical requirements. The system provides efficient waste transfer across 41 chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.
The installation spans 41 chute pipe levels with 40 fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed across operational levels and a bypass configuration incorporated at level 1. As the chute and intake hoppers are exposed and unsupported by a separating shaft element, 40 custom chute and door support frames were fabricated and installed to support each intake hopper and door along the full height of the chute run. Custom slab shrouds were also installed at all 41 chute pipe levels to prevent water ingress between floors, ensuring a watertight and compliant installation throughout the building.
Project-specific chute lagging including foil lagging tape and steel banding was applied to the exposed chute sections in lieu of standard acoustic lagging, suited to the aesthetic and technical requirements of an exposed chute installation within a fire-rated enclosure. The discharge room is located at ground level, fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit a 1,500L MGB.
An odour relief vent and flushing spray system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of the chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft. Two reusable slab penetration ring formers were also supplied to suit the 610mm chute diameter, supporting accurate penetration installation within the building structure. A 12-month defects liability period servicing program was included across the installed system.
The completed installation provides Icon Construction with a durable, compliant, and technically considered waste management solution tailored to the specific demands of Chevron One Residences, supporting efficient building operations and reliable long-term performance within a landmark luxury residential development on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
