
Bridge Street Residences is a multi-residential development by Gesani, located at 18 Bridge Street, Homebush NSW, within Sydney’s inner west. The development required a practical and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing two building cores efficiently, with integrated compaction equipment to support high-occupancy waste room operations.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install two waste chute systems across the east and west cores of the building, each configured to meet the operational demands of its respective core. The systems provide efficient waste transfer across multiple chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.
Each core services six chute pipe levels, with six fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed at every operational level across both cores. Both chute shafts run straight up and down, with discharge rooms located at basement 1 in both cores.
Each core is fitted with a linear track compactor system configured to suit two 1,100L MGBs, supporting efficient waste compaction and bin management within the basement waste room. The linear track configuration allows bins to be positioned and rotated along a track, reducing manual handling and improving the overall efficiency of waste collection operations across both cores.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of each shaft.
The completed installation provides Gesani with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and operational demands of Bridge Street Residences, supporting reliable long-term performance across both building cores within a high-density inner west residential environment.
