Aire is a landmark luxury residential development by Modco Construction, located at 38 Atchison Street, Wollongong NSW, within one of the Illawarra region’s fastest-growing urban precincts. The development’s high-rise configuration and premium residential character required a practical and compliant waste management solution with integrated compaction equipment to support efficient waste room operations at ground level.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a waste chute system across 18 chute pipe levels, with 17 fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors installed across all operational levels and a bypass configuration incorporated at level 1. The chute runs straight up and down throughout the shaft, with the discharge room located at ground level.
A carousel compactor system configured to suit a 240L MGB was installed at ground level, supporting efficient waste compaction and bin rotation within the ground floor waste room and reducing manual handling requirements for building management. A vent and wash-down cleaning system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft.
The completed installation provides Modco Construction with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste infrastructure solution suited to the scale and premium character of Aire, supporting efficient building operations within one of the Illawarra region’s most significant residential developments.
