Dual Chute Systems Installed for UQ Student Residences in St Lucia to Support Safe and Efficient Waste Handling

This purpose-built student accommodation complex is located on the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, offering modern housing for hundreds of students within walking distance of academic buildings and recreational spaces.

Elephants Foot supplied and installed three dual chute systems across multiple residential wings to support high-volume waste and recycling disposal. The systems were equipped with fire-rated self-closing hoppers, offset discharge configurations, and full acoustic lagging to reduce operational noise. Ventilation and flushing units were integrated to maintain hygienic airflow and control odour, critical in high-occupancy student environments.

Each system was designed for durability, safety, and ease of use, with bin carousel systems optimising waste collection in tight discharge rooms. The solution also includes an annual maintenance service to ensure long-term performance and compliance.
