Elephants Foot Chute Solutions partnered with Hickory Group to deliver a dual linen chute system for The Walk Arcade; a landmark redevelopment located on Bourke Street in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Transforming a historic shopping arcade into a vibrant mixed-use precinct, the project required a tailored solution to support efficient linen handling for its residential and commercial components.
The installation featured a dual linen chute configuration spanning 24 galvanised steel chute pipe levels, supported by 18 fire-rated, self-closing Chute Doors with signage for compliance and safety. Both chutes incorporated custom mid-level offsets between levels 2 and 3, designed to suit the building’s structural layout without compromising performance.
Top-level odour management was achieved with dual vent and wash-down cleaning systems, installed on level 8 and discharged through to open air. At basement level, each chute was fitted with a Type A Discharge Attachment designed to suit linen trolleys, ensuring seamless integration with the building’s operational requirements.
With a combination of precision-engineered chute pipes, safety-certified intake doors, and custom offsets, Elephants Foot delivered a system that supports The Walk Arcade’s transformation into a modern, functional, and future-ready mixed-use development in Melbourne’s busiest retail corridor.
