Located adjacent to major universities, public transport, and the CBD, the building required a high‑capacity waste management solution capable of supporting continuous daily use in a high‑occupancy environment.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dual waste and recycling chute system designed to deliver reliable vertical transfer while maintaining safety, hygiene, and long‑term operational performance in a student accommodation setting.

The system incorporates 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing 13 residential levels for both waste and recycling. Separate streams allow residents to correctly dispose of materials at the point of use, supporting improved recycling outcomes and reduced contamination in a high‑use environment.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling chute intake doors are installed on every active level, providing safe and intuitive access while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. Clear signage at each intake supports correct system use and helps minimise misuse.

At the top of each chute, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems provide continuous airflow and automated internal cleaning. These systems assist with odour control, improve hygiene, and protect the internal condition of the chute over the life of the building.

At basement level, waste and recycling are discharged via linear track systems into 1100L mobile garbage bins. Plastic strip curtains are installed over the bottom discharge points to improve containment and cleanliness.
