Bailey Street Apartments Waste & Recycling Chute System

Bailey Street Apartments is a residential development delivered by Stockwell Design and Construction in Brisbane’s inner‑west precinct. Located close to the CBD, transport links, and local amenities, the development required a high‑performing waste management solution capable of supporting daily residential use while minimising noise and operational impact.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a centralised dual waste and recycling chute system designed to deliver reliable vertical waste transfer with enhanced acoustic performance. The system supports both waste and recycling streams, improving source separation and overall recycling outcomes.

The installation includes 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing levels 2 to 8, complete with upgraded acoustic lagging to reduce noise transmission through the building. Additional acoustic isolation mounts further minimise vibration, supporting resident comfort in a high‑density urban environment.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling intake doors are installed on each active level, providing safe and intuitive access while maintaining fire and smoke separation. Clear separation between waste streams supports correct use and reduces contamination.

At the upper levels, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems assist with airflow, hygiene, and odour control. At discharge level, waste is directed via minor‑offset bottom discharge systems into an integrated single‑bin compactor, forming part of the building’s residential waste management system. The completed installation delivers a quiet, efficient, and low‑maintenance solution well suited to inner‑city apartment living.
