Waterfront CS Boulevard Waste Chute Systems

Waterfront CS Boulevard is a medium to high‑density residential development delivered by Ausecon Developments within Melbourne’s inner west renewal precinct. Positioned close to the Maribyrnong River, public transport, and retail amenities, the development required a reliable and compliant waste management solution capable of supporting both residential and mixed‑use components within the building.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two independent waste chute systems, configured to service separate residential and commercial waste streams. This approach supports efficient waste handling while maintaining safety, hygiene, and long‑term operational performance across different occupancy types.

Both systems incorporate 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes designed to run straight through from the upper levels to the basement discharge rooms. The straight‑through configuration eliminates offsets and transfer points, reducing the risk of blockages and simplifying ongoing maintenance.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste chute intake doors are installed on all active levels, providing safe and intuitive access while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. Clear signage at each intake supports correct use of the system and helps minimise misuse.

At the top of each chute, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems provide continuous airflow and automated internal cleaning. These systems assist with odour control, improve hygiene, and protect the internal condition of the chute over the life of the building.

At basement level, waste is discharged via Type A bottom discharge units into 660L mobile garbage bins. This configuration integrates seamlessly with the building’s residential waste management system, allowing efficient servicing while minimising manual handling. The completed installation delivers a practical, low‑maintenance solution suited to mixed‑use residential developments in Melbourne’s inner west.
