The Cove Comino is a residential development delivered by Evans Built within the Pelican Waters coastal precinct. Located in a master‑planned community close to waterways and local amenities, the project supports medium‑density residential living and required a compliant, reliable waste management solution to support daily resident use and long‑term building performance.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a fully integrated waste chute system designed for low to medium rise residential environments. The system incorporates 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing Levels 1 through to Level 6, providing smooth vertical waste transfer while reducing the risk of blockages and operational issues.

Fire rated, self‑closing intake doors are installed on each active level, ensuring safe waste disposal while maintaining fire and smoke separation in accordance with building compliance requirements. At the top of the chute, an odour relief vent and flushing spray system provides airflow and automated internal cleaning, helping control odours, maintain hygiene, and protect long‑term system performance.

At basement level, waste is discharged through a Type A discharge arrangement with a minor offset, allowing efficient bin placement within the discharge room while minimising spatial impact. To suit the building design, custom hopper door extensions were designed and installed to accommodate extended belly configurations, ensuring correct alignment and long‑term durability.

The system also incorporated custom support brackets for oversized slab penetrations, including cantilevered and straight support angles at each level. These elements ensure structural stability and accurate chute alignment throughout the building.

The completed waste chute system provides a low‑maintenance, future‑ready solution that supports efficient waste handling, reduces operational risk, and enhances building performance within a high‑quality coastal residential development.
