Located close to retail, public transport, and the Sunshine Coast employment hub, the building required a reliable and compliant waste management solution capable of supporting consistent daily residential use.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a single waste chute system designed to provide efficient vertical waste transfer while maintaining safety, hygiene, and long‑term operational performance within a compact building footprint.
The system incorporates 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing ten residential levels. A minor offset above the discharge level was integrated into the design to suit the building layout while maintaining smooth waste flow and reliable system performance.
Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste chute intake doors are installed on each active level, providing safe and intuitive access for residents while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. Clear chute signage supports correct system use and helps minimise contamination and misuse.
At the top of the chute, a dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning system provides airflow and automated internal cleaning. This assists with odour control, improves hygiene, and helps protect the internal condition of the chute over the life of the building.
At the discharge level, waste is transferred via a Type A bottom discharge unit into a 1100L mobile garbage bin. This configuration integrates seamlessly with the building’s residential waste management system, allowing efficient servicing while reducing manual handling. The completed installation delivers a robust, low‑maintenance solution suited to medium and high‑density residential living in Maroochydore.
