Pienza Neutral Bay is a medium‑density residential development delivered by Richard Crookes Construction on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. Located within an established village setting close to transport links and local services, the development required a reliable and compliant waste management solution capable of supporting daily residential use while minimising operational noise and disruption.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two independent waste chute systems, each servicing separate building cores. The systems were designed to deliver efficient vertical waste transfer while maintaining safety, hygiene, and long‑term building performance.
Both chutes incorporate 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes with a comprehensive acoustic lagging upgrade. The acoustic treatment consists of a high‑performance barrier bonded to convoluted foam, reducing noise transmission and improving resident comfort in a medium‑density residential environment.
Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste chute intake doors are installed on all active residential levels, providing safe and intuitive access while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. Clear signage at each intake supports correct use and helps minimise misuse.
At the top of each chute, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems provide continuous airflow and automated internal cleaning. These systems assist with odour control, improve hygiene, and help protect the internal condition of the chute over the life of the building.
At discharge level, waste is transferred via Type A bottom discharge units into 660L mobile garbage bins. This configuration integrates seamlessly with the building’s residential waste management system, allowing efficient servicing while reducing manual handling. The completed installation delivers a durable, acoustically controlled solution well suited to residential living on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
