MRK is a residential development delivered by Hacer Australia within Melbourne’s inner north‑west urban renewal corridor. Positioned close to the CBD, major transport links, and employment precincts, the development required a robust waste management solution capable of servicing multiple buildings and high resident volumes.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a comprehensive suite of dual waste and recycling chute systems across five separate buildings. The multi‑system configuration provides efficient vertical waste transfer while distributing usage loads and improving operational resilience across the broader site.
Each building incorporates 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes with full acoustic lagging applied to all chute sections. This treatment reduces noise transmission and supports resident comfort within a high‑density residential environment. Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling intake doors are installed on each active level, with key‑locking hardware incorporated to support controlled access and correct system use.
Dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems are installed at the top of each chute, providing continuous airflow, automated internal cleaning, and improved odour control. Acoustic isolation mounts are also installed to ceiling‑mounted equipment within discharge rooms, supporting compliance with acoustic performance requirements.
At basement level, waste and recycling are discharged via a combination of minor and medium offset bottom discharge systems to suit building layouts and servicing constraints. The completed installation forms part of a fully integrated residential waste management system, delivering long‑term performance across a large, multi‑building development.
