Anglicare is a residential development delivered by Growthbuilt in Sydney’s western region, supporting medium‑density living with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and long‑term operational performance. The project required a practical and compliant waste management solution capable of managing daily resident volumes across multiple residential blocks while maintaining ease of use and minimal operational disruption.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot supplied and installed three waste chute systems across Blocks A, B, and C. Each system was designed to provide reliable vertical waste transfer while supporting efficient basement and ground‑level waste handling.
The chute systems utilise 510mm galvanised steel risers servicing a total of 23 residential levels across the three buildings. Fire rated, self‑closing stainless steel intake doors are installed on every active level, ensuring safe operation and maintaining fire and smoke compartmentation in accordance with building compliance requirements. Clear signage at each chute door supports consistent and correct use by residents.
At the top of each chute, venting and wash‑down cleaning systems provide airflow and automated internal chute cleaning, helping control odours, maintain hygiene, and protect long‑term system performance. Waste is discharged at ground or basement level, depending on the building configuration, into linear compactor systems suited to 1100L mobile garbage bins.
The linear compactor systems streamline waste handling by reducing bin movements and improving housekeeping within the waste rooms, supporting efficient collections and safer operations for building management staff. With chutes running straight up and down and no offsets required, the systems deliver a simple, robust, and low‑maintenance solution across all three blocks.
The completed waste chute systems provide a compliant, future‑ready solution that supports hygiene, reduces operational issues, and protects long‑term building performance within a multi‑building residential environment.
