Cornus Apartments Waste & Recycling Chute System

Cornus Apartments is a medium‑density residential development delivered by EPXBUILD Construction within Melbourne’s south‑east corridor. Located close to transport, retail, and essential services, the project required a dependable waste handling solution capable of supporting daily resident use while maintaining compliance, efficiency, and long‑term operational performance.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dedicated dual residential waste and recycling chute system, providing efficient vertical waste transfer across all residential levels. The installation incorporates durable 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes configured in straight vertical runs from Ground through Level 5, helping minimise offsets, improve flow performance, and reduce long‑term maintenance requirements.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling chute intake doors are installed at each level, supporting secure and user‑friendly resident access while ensuring compliance with building fire safety regulations. At the uppermost level, integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems assist with airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene, supporting reliable system performance under daily residential usage conditions.

At Basement Level 1, both chute streams discharge via Type‑A bottom discharge arrangements designed to suit future bin size requirements, enabling flexible waste room configuration and efficient servicing operations. Together, the installation forms part of the building’s broader apartment waste management infrastructure, supporting consistent, compliant, and long‑term operational performance for residents and building management.
