Delivered by Icon Construction under the Victorian Public Housing Renewal Program, the Prahran Housing redevelopment replaced 120 outdated social homes with 434 new apartments across 7 buildings, ranging from 3 to 12 storeys. To meet the waste management needs of this high-density residential community, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions, was engaged to design, supply, and install a complete waste handling system.

The solution comprised four dual chute systems across Buildings A, B, C and D, allowing residents to conveniently and safely separate waste and recycling. Each chute was paired with premium chute doors and supported by custom discharge attachments located in basement levels to suit 1,100L bins.

To maintain hygiene and improve building performance, wash-down and vent systems were installed at the upper levels of each chute, ensuring odour and residue were effectively managed. This scalable solution streamlined operations for building management while reducing manual handling risks.
