
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions executed an essential remediation project at the 52-level Platinum Apartments in Southbank, replacing non-compliant plastic chutes across levels 4 to 16 in this 438-apartment luxury tower. The project involved removing all LLDPE plastic chute components and installing galvanised steel chute system replacements to restore safe and compliant waste management.
The comprehensive scope included removing existing plastic chutes from 13 levels while carefully preserving and reinstating hopper doors, though Elephants Foot Chute Solutions noted existing door damage fell outside project responsibility. The team installed new heavy-duty offset sections at levels 1 through 3, supported by 32 structural support brackets at critical penetration points. All work followed strict safe work methodologies with thorough shaft cleaning and sanitisation at each affected level.
The replacement system features solid acoustic lagging using Thermotec NuWrap material for noise control, along with eight new access panels for future maintenance. The project delivered full compliance with BCA requirements, backed by a 5-year warranty on replaced components, with proper disposal of all plastic materials.
