Elephants Foot Chute Solutions designed and installed a high-performance waste management system for Nationwide Builder’s boutique residential development, Pedestrian Residences, located at 10–12 Howatt Street, Villawood. The project comprises 56 apartments across seven residential levels above a single basement level. The building’s multi-edge façade presented a unique challenge, requiring precise system integration to maintain both compliance and operational efficiency.
The installation comprises seven galvanised steel chute pipes running vertically through the building. Seven fire-rated self-closing hopper doors with medium-temperature smoke seals ensure compliant, odour-controlled waste disposal on every residential level. The system incorporates comprehensive odour management including a dedicated relief vent and automatic flushing spray system, vented through to open air with a maximum 3000mm run above the chute head.
At basement level, the solution features a minor offset waste stream configuration and a linear compactor system optimized for 660L garbage bins. The system was carefully engineered to accommodate the building’s unique curved façade while maintaining optimal waste flow.
