High‑Capacity Linen Chute Infrastructure for Major Civic Events Facility

Nyaal Banyal Geelong Convention and Event Centre, delivered by Built on the Geelong waterfront, is a landmark civic and events infrastructure project designed to accommodate conferences, exhibitions, performances, and large‑scale public gatherings. As a high‑profile regional asset with significant visitor traffic, the facility required a robust and dependable linen management solution capable of supporting continuous back‑of‑house operations and fluctuating event demand.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dedicated linen chute system comprising 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing mezzanine and upper levels through to Level 11. The system provides efficient vertical transfer of linen from operational floors to the ground‑level discharge area, streamlining housekeeping processes and reducing manual handling requirements across the facility.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing linen intake doors were installed across designated levels to ensure compliant, safe operation within a high‑traffic commercial environment. An integrated odour relief vent and wash‑down cleaning system was incorporated at the uppermost level to support airflow performance, internal hygiene, and long‑term system reliability.

To meet acoustic performance expectations within a public events venue, all chute sections were upgraded with Thermotec Nuwrap 5 acoustic lagging. This treatment assists in reducing operational noise transmission between levels while maintaining overall building comfort standards.

At Ground Level, a medium offset discharge configuration was designed to suit a selected linen trolley arrangement, optimising back‑of‑house workflow and ensuring efficient collection and handling. The completed installation delivers a compliant, durable, and operationally efficient linen transfer solution tailored to the demands of a major civic events facility.
