Linen Chute System Installation

Palm Lake Care Caloundra is a luxury residential aged care facility by Palm Lake Works, located at 95 Village Way, Little Mountain QLD, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The facility features luxury suites with private patios opening to manicured gardens, complemented by premium amenities including a bar, gymnasium, hair and beauty salon, and a movie theatre. As a high-standard residential care environment, the facility required building infrastructure that supports efficient operations while maintaining the comfort and hygiene expectations of its residents and care staff.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a linen chute system tailored to the facility’s layout and operational requirements. The system provides efficient linen transfer from level 1 to the ground floor collection area, reducing manual handling requirements for care and facilities staff and supporting hygienic linen management throughout the building.

The installation services one chute pipe level at level 1, with a fire-rated self-closing linen intake door installed at that level. Signage was fitted to the intake door to support correct and safe use by staff. The chute runs vertically with a standard offset configuration, with the discharge room located at ground level.

A Type A bottom discharge door was installed at ground level, configured to suit the selected linen trolley or MGB, providing a reliable and controlled linen collection point at discharge level. The discharge configuration supports a clean and organised ground floor linen collection area, minimising contact and handling for laundry staff within the facility.

A vent and wash-down cleaning system was installed at level 1, discharging through to open air on the level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene. The system ensures the chute shaft remains clean and well-ventilated throughout its operational life, which is particularly important within a luxury aged care environment where hygiene standards are paramount.

The completed installation provides Palm Lake Works with a durable and compliant linen management solution suited to the specific operational demands of Palm Lake Care Caloundra, supporting efficient building operations and contributing to a safe and hygienic environment for residents and care staff across the facility.
