The IGLU Student Accommodation project at Mascot, NSW, developed by Icon Construction, provides 435 student rooms in a purpose-built facility featuring a mix of studios, shared apartments, and high-quality communal amenities. Designed to meet the demands of high-density student living, the project required a reliable and scalable waste management solution that would support both functionality and hygiene.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions, was engaged to design, supply, and install a dual chute system tailored to the scale of the development. Two dual chute systems were installed across lifts 1–4, spanning 40 chute pipe levels in total. Each system was equipped with premium chute doors and signage, ensuring clear, safe access for residents. At basement level, Type ‘A’ discharge attachments were installed to suit 1,100L mobile garbage bins, streamlining waste and recycling management. To maintain cleanliness and performance, ventilation and wash-down systems were integrated at the top levels of each chute, enabling effective odour control and ongoing hygiene.
By combining durability with scalability, Elephants Foot delivered a waste management system that enhances operational efficiency for building managers while supporting safer, cleaner living conditions for students.
