Shell Cove Hotel, delivered by Growthbuilt within the Shell Cove marina precinct, required a high‑performance waste management solution suited to the demands of hospitality operations. With food and beverage services, guest accommodation and high visitor traffic, the project called for a centralised system capable of managing multiple waste streams efficiently while maintaining hygiene, safety and compliance.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions delivered an integrated solution comprising a dual waste and recycling chute system alongside a dedicated linen chute system. The installation included 26 vertical runs of 510mm galvanised steel chute pipework, configured to align with operational service levels and back‑of‑house planning requirements.
Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste chute intake doors were installed across nominated floors, with bypass arrangements incorporated where required to suit building layout and service coordination. All chute sections were upgraded with 25mm acoustic lagging (Thermotec Nuwrap 5) to minimise structure‑borne noise transfer — an important consideration within guest accommodation areas.
Integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems were installed to support airflow management, odour control and ongoing chute hygiene. At Basement Level 1, discharge configurations were arranged with minor offsets to suit 1100L MGB handling, including a linear compactor system for waste and a dedicated linear track system for recycling. The linen chute discharges independently to a selected trolley, ensuring operational separation between general waste and laundry streams.
The completed installation forms part of the hotel’s broader commercial waste management infrastructure, delivering a coordinated, acoustically treated and capacity‑optimised solution designed to support efficient day‑to‑day operations within a high‑traffic waterfront environment.
