The Standard is an award-winning high-density residential development by J Hutchinson, located at 13-15 Manning Street, South Brisbane QLD, adjacent to the Fish Lane dining and cultural precinct. The development’s prominent inner-city location and high occupancy required a space-efficient and compliant waste management solution capable of servicing multiple levels reliably throughout the life of the building.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install an eDiverter chute system tailored to the building’s vertical layout and occupancy requirements. The eDiverter system enables both waste and recycling streams to be managed through a single chute line, with an automated diverter at the base directing material to the correct bin, providing a practical and space-efficient waste separation solution well suited to a high-density inner-city residential tower.
The installation services 24 chute pipe levels, with 24 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors in stainless steel installed across all operational levels. A bypass configuration was incorporated at level 1 where no intake hopper is required, and a major offset was incorporated at garbage room level to route the chute to the discharge room at basement 1. Signage was fitted to each intake door to support correct use by residents throughout the building.
A vent and wash-down cleaning system was installed at the top of the chute shaft, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft.
The completed installation provides J Hutchinson with a durable, compliant, and low-maintenance waste management solution suited to the scale and prominence of The Standard, supporting efficient building operations and reliable long-term performance within one of South Brisbane’s most recognised residential addresses.
