Lonsdale and High is a sold-out mixed-use residential development by PC Whitehall and Sons, located at 36-46 High Street, Preston VIC, within Melbourne’s City of Darebin approximately 8km from the CBD. Developed by M Property and designed by Rothelowman, the development required a space-efficient and acoustically considered waste management solution suited to a high-density residential building.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed an eDiverter chute system across 11 chute pipe levels, with 10 fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors installed across operational levels and a bypass configuration at level 1. The discharge room is located at ground level, fitted with a minor offset discharge configuration to suit a 1,100L MGB for both waste and recycling streams.
A comprehensive acoustic upgrade was applied throughout the installation. Acoustic lagging using a 25mm thick 5kg/m2 barrier bonded to convoluted foam was applied to all 11 chute pipe sections, and Embelton NRD isolation mounts were installed to both the chute pipes at each level and ceiling-mounted equipment in the discharge room, providing a thorough approach to noise and vibration management within the residential building. An odour relief vent and flushing spray system was installed at the top of the shaft to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene.
