Bramston Terrace Apartments is a multi-residential development by BPG Constructions, located at 51-53 Bramston Terrace and 7 Weightman Street, Herston QLD, within Brisbane’s inner-northern precinct approximately 2km from the CBD. Designed by Ellivo Architects with subtropical design principles prioritising natural light, airflow, and outdoor amenity, the development comprises 45 apartments across seven to eight storeys, offering a mix of two and three-bedroom residences.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed an eDiverter chute system suited to the vertical layout and occupancy requirements of the building. The eDiverter system enables both waste and recycling streams to be managed through a single chute line, with an automated diverter at the base directing material to the correct bin, providing a space-efficient and practical waste separation solution for a mid-rise residential building.
The installation services eight chute pipe levels spanning ground floor, levels 1 through 6, and the pool deck level, with eight fire-rated self-closing eDiverter intake doors installed at each operational level. The discharge room is located at basement 1, with a medium offset discharge configuration installed to suit the eDiverter stream and a 1,100L bin.
A comprehensive acoustic upgrade package was applied throughout the installation to suit the subtropical residential environment and the building’s design intent. Acoustic lagging using a 25mm thick 5kg/m2 barrier bonded to convoluted foam was applied to all eight chute pipe sections, and NRD2 rubber isolation mounts with 10mm static deflection were installed at all eight chute levels to minimise structure-borne noise transmission through the building fabric. Together these treatments support a quiet and comfortable living environment for residents across all levels.
An odour relief vent and flushing spray system was installed at pool deck level, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of the chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout the full height of the shaft. A reusable slab penetration ring former was also supplied to suit a 510mm chute through slabs up to 350mm thick, supporting accurate chute penetration installation within the building structure.
The completed installation provides BPG Constructions with a durable, compliant, and acoustically considered waste management solution tailored to the operational demands of Bramston Terrace Apartments, supporting efficient building operations and a comfortable residential environment throughout the development.
