
Brady Hotel is a landmark mixed-use hotel and residential development by Brady Constructions, located at 380 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC, in the geographic heart of the Melbourne CBD. The development’s complexity across four distinct building configurations required a coordinated waste infrastructure solution spanning residential, hotel, and commercial waste and linen streams within a single tower.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two dual waste and recycling chute systems across the north and south towers, a linen chute system servicing the hotel floors, and a separate commercial waste chute system, all constructed in 600mm galvanised steel. A combined total of 175 fire-rated self-closing stainless steel intake doors were installed across the waste and recycling systems, with bypass configurations and additional access panels incorporated across both towers throughout the shaft.
The north tower discharge room at ground level is fitted with a linear track system to suit a 1,100L MGB and a 25m3 portable compactor, with major offsets incorporated to route both chutes to the discharge room. The south tower, hotel linen, and commercial chute systems each discharge via Type A bottom discharge doors, with vent and wash-down cleaning systems installed at the top of all five chute shafts throughout the building.
The completed installation provides Brady Constructions with a durable, compliant, and comprehensively configured waste and linen infrastructure solution suited to the scale and complexity of Brady Hotel, supporting efficient building operations across a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
