Astina Suites is a luxury serviced apartment development by Astina Group, located at 21-25 Woodriff Street, Penrith NSW, in the heart of Penrith’s CBD. The development’s high-density serviced apartment configuration required both a dual waste and recycling chute system and a dedicated linen chute system to support the efficient day-to-day operational demands of a busy serviced apartment environment.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a dual waste and recycling chute system and a linen chute system across the building, servicing a combined total of 21 intake levels across both systems. The systems operate independently, providing separate waste, recycling, and linen transfer to their respective discharge areas, reducing manual handling for housekeeping and facilities staff and supporting well-organised waste and linen room operations throughout the building.
The dual chute system services seven waste and seven recycling intake levels, with seven fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors and seven recycling intake doors installed across all operational levels. Two linear track systems without compactor were installed at discharge level, each configured to suit a 1,100L MGB for the waste and recycling streams respectively, supporting efficient bin management and rotation within the waste room.
The linen chute system services seven linen intake levels, with seven fire-rated self-closing linen intake doors installed across all operational levels. A Type A bottom discharge door was installed at discharge level, configured to suit the selected linen trolley, providing a clean and controlled linen collection point for housekeeping staff.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all three chute shafts, discharging through to the level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene across the waste, recycling, and linen shafts throughout the building.
The completed installation provides Astina Group with a durable, compliant, and operationally practical waste and linen infrastructure solution tailored to the demands of a luxury serviced apartment environment, supporting efficient building operations and reliable long-term performance in the heart of Penrith’s CBD.
