Waterline Place is a medium‑density residential development delivered by Arc 3 in Melbourne’s bayside precinct. Located close to the waterfront, public transport, and local services, the building required a reliable and compliant waste management solution capable of supporting daily residential use while maintaining long‑term building performance.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two independent dual waste and recycling chute systems, each designed to provide efficient vertical waste transfer while maintaining safety, hygiene, and compliance across multiple levels.
Each system incorporates 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing upper residential levels. Major chute offsets were engineered at lower levels to suit the building layout, with additional access panels included to maintain serviceability and support long‑term maintenance without compromising system performance.
Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling chute intake doors are installed on all active levels, providing safe and intuitive access for residents while maintaining fire and smoke separation between floors. Clear signage at each intake supports correct use and helps minimise contamination between waste streams.
At the top of each chute, dedicated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems provide continuous airflow and automated internal cleaning. These systems assist with odour control, improve hygiene, and protect the internal condition of the chute over the life of the building.
At ground level, waste and recycling are discharged via custom Type A bottom discharge units fitted with fusible links, transferring material into 1100L mobile garbage bins. This configuration integrates seamlessly with the building’s residential waste management system, allowing efficient servicing while minimising manual handling. The completed installation delivers a robust, low‑maintenance solution well suited to medium‑density residential living in Williamstown.
