Carlton Living Stage 7B Waste & Recycling Chute System

Carlton Living Stage 7B is a medium‑to‑high density residential development delivered by Harris HMC Construction within Melbourne’s inner‑city precinct. Located close to the CBD, universities, and major public transport connections, the project required a dependable waste management solution capable of supporting daily resident usage while maintaining safety, compliance, and long‑term operational performance.

To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dual residential waste management system providing separate waste and recycling streams to improve diversion outcomes and streamline servicing operations. The installation includes durable 510mm chute pipe systems servicing levels Ground through Level 7, ensuring efficient vertical waste transfer throughout the building.

Fire‑rated, self‑closing waste and recycling chute doors are installed at each level, providing safe and user‑friendly resident access while maintaining compliance with fire safety standards. Acoustic lagging upgrades further improve occupant comfort by reducing operational noise transmission between building levels—an important consideration for high‑density residential environments.

At the upper levels, integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems support airflow, hygiene, and odour management to maintain consistent system performance. Waste and recycling streams discharge at Basement Level 1 through Type A discharge units configured to suit 1100L mobile garbage bins, ensuring efficient handling and simplified collection processes as part of the building’s broader apartment waste chute infrastructure.
