Burwood Brickworks Stages 5 and 6 are the final two residential buildings within the award-winning Burwood Brickworks master-planned precinct, constructed by Hacer Group for Frasers Property Australia and located at Foundation Boulevard, Burwood East VIC. The completion of these final stages required a dual waste and recycling chute system for each building, with smoke seal upgrades to all intake doors to suit the precinct’s compliance and building performance requirements.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed two dual waste and recycling chute systems across Buildings 5 and 6, providing a combined total of 22 chute pipe levels and 22 fire-rated self-closing intake doors across all operational levels. All 22 intake doors received medium temperature smoke seal upgrades across both buildings. Building 5 services six waste and six recycling chute pipe levels, while Building 6 services five waste and five recycling chute pipe levels. Both buildings run straight up and down with discharge rooms located at ground level.
Each building is fitted with two Type A bottom discharge doors, one for the waste stream and one for the recycling stream, both configured to suit 1,100L MGBs. Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of all four chute shafts across both buildings, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene.
The completed installation provides Hacer Group with a durable and compliant waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the scale and character of Burwood Brickworks Stages 5 and 6, delivering reliable long-term performance within one of Melbourne’s most recognised sustainable master-planned communities.
