Dual Waste and Recycling Chute System Installation

Bay Road Sandringham is a mixed-use residential development by Epix Build Construction Group, located at 248-250 Bay Road, Sandringham VIC, within Melbourne’s City of Bayside. The development required a practical and compliant waste management solution providing separate waste and recycling streams to support efficient building operations across multiple levels.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a dual waste and recycling chute system across six chute pipe levels, with six fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors and six recycling intake doors installed across all operational levels. The discharge room is located at basement 1, with minor offset discharge configurations installed for both the waste and recycling streams. Two reusable slab penetration ring formers were supplied to suit 510mm chutes through slabs up to 350mm thick, supporting accurate penetration installation within the building structure.

Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene.

The completed installation provides Epix Build Construction Group with a durable and compliant waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the scale of Bay Road Sandringham, supporting reliable long-term performance within a mixed-use residential environment in Melbourne’s City of Bayside.
