
Auburn Square Stage 1 is a major mixed use residential development delivered by Binah Constructions in Sydney’s western growth corridor. The project integrates high density residential apartments with retail and community uses, creating a precinct that generates large volumes of waste and recycling every day. To support these demands, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions designed and delivered a high capacity chute system that provides safe, compliant and efficient waste management across two separate building cores.
The installation consists of two independent dual waste and recycling chute systems constructed from 510mm galvanised steel. These chute risers provide smooth and reliable vertical transfer from all apartment levels to the ground floor discharge rooms, helping prevent blockages and improve daily waste flow in a high occupancy environment.
Each level is fitted with fire rated, self closing intake doors that allow residents to dispose of waste and recycling safely while maintaining fire compartmentation between floors. Integrated vent and wash down systems installed at the top of each chute provide airflow and automated internal cleaning, helping control odours, improve hygiene and protect long term system performance.
At ground level, waste is processed through high efficiency single bin compactor systems designed to suit 1100L mobile garbage bins. This reduces the number of bin movements required and increases storage capacity, which is critical for a large mixed use development. Recycling is discharged through Type A bottom discharge units, allowing clean and controlled transfer into 1100L bins for collection.
