
Aston Apartments is a boutique residential development by Force 1 Constructions, located at 33-35 Nicholson Street, Bentleigh VIC, within Melbourne’s City of Glen Eira. The development required a practical and compliant waste management solution suited to the scale and layout of a medium-density boutique residential building, providing separate waste and recycling streams to support efficient building operations.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a dual waste and recycling chute system tailored to the building’s layout and occupancy requirements. The system provides efficient waste and recycling transfer across four chute pipe levels, reducing manual handling for building management and supporting well-organised waste room operations throughout the development.
Four fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors and four fire-rated self-closing recycling intake doors were installed across all operational levels. The discharge room is located at basement 1, with minor offset discharge configurations installed for both the waste and recycling streams, each configured to suit a 1,100L MGB.
Odour relief vent and flushing spray systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to open air at a maximum of 3,000mm above the head of each chute to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout both shafts.
The completed installation provides Force 1 Constructions with a durable and compliant waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the scale and character of Aston Apartments, supporting reliable long-term performance within a boutique residential environment in Melbourne’s City of Glen Eira.
