
AQUA Stage 2B is a residential development delivered by Astina Group within the Panthers North Precinct, forming part of a major urban renewal area in Penrith. Supporting medium to high density living across multiple buildings, the project required a scalable and reliable waste management solution capable of handling high daily resident volumes while maintaining safety, compliance, and long‑term performance.
To meet these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed multiple dual waste and recycling chute systems across Buildings D1, D2, E1, and E2. In total, four dual chute systems were installed, comprising eight individual chute risers constructed from 510mm galvanised steel and configured to service varying building heights across the precinct.
Each system incorporates fire rated, self‑closing intake doors for both waste and recycling on every active level, allowing residents to correctly separate materials at the point of disposal while maintaining fire and smoke compartmentation. Clear signage at each intake supports consistent use and improved recycling outcomes across the development.
Vent and wash‑down cleaning systems are installed at the upper levels of each chute, providing airflow and automated internal cleaning to control odours, maintain hygiene, and protect long‑term system performance. At basement level, waste and recycling are discharged into linear track systems suited to 1100L mobile garbage bins, enabling efficient bin handling without the use of compactors.
Chute offsets were incorporated at basement level to suit building geometry and discharge room layouts, ensuring smooth vertical alignment while minimising spatial impact. Across the four buildings, the completed waste chute systems provide a coordinated, low‑maintenance solution that supports reliable daily operations and scalable waste management within a large multi‑building residential precinct.
