Allison Parkside is a boutique residential development by HDP, located at 1032-1036 Mount Alexander Road, Essendon VIC, within Melbourne’s City of Moonee Valley. The development required a practical and compliant waste management solution providing separate waste and recycling streams to support efficient building operations and reduce manual handling for building management across multiple levels.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions was engaged to supply and install a dual waste and recycling chute system tailored to the building’s vertical layout and occupancy requirements. The system provides efficient waste and recycling transfer across six chute pipe levels per stream, with six fire-rated self-closing waste intake doors and six recycling intake doors installed across all operational levels. Signage indicating that glass bottles are not to be placed in the chute was fitted to each intake door across both streams, supporting correct disposal practices by residents throughout the building.
Both chute shafts run straight up and down with no offsets incorporated within the scope, with the discharge room located at basement 1. Each stream is fitted with a Type A bottom discharge door configured to suit a 1,100L MGB, with plastic strip curtains installed over each bottom chute discharge point to improve waste room conditions and contain odour at discharge level.
Vent and wash-down cleaning systems were installed at the top of both chute shafts, discharging through to roof level above to support airflow management, odour control, and internal chute hygiene throughout both shafts.
The completed installation provides HDP with a durable and compliant waste and recycling infrastructure solution suited to the scale and character of Allison Parkside, supporting reliable long-term performance and efficient building operations within Melbourne’s City of Moonee Valley.
