Douglas Apartments is a social and community housing development by Balmain & Co, located at 51A Douglas Street, Noble Park VIC, adjacent to Noble Park Railway Station within the City of Greater Dandenong. Developed by Cedar Woods in partnership with HousingFirst and the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments, the five-storey building delivers 97 one and two-bedroom apartments alongside six ground floor retail tenancies, providing secure and modern homes for low to medium income residents in a well-connected urban precinct.

Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed dual chute systems for Balmain & Co across two lift cores, each servicing chute pipe levels from level 01 to level 05. Each lift core is fitted with fire-rated self-closing intake doors to both waste and recycling streams, with odour relief vent and flushing spray points fitted to each system.

Both systems discharge to rooms at ground level, with minor offset configurations serving waste and recycling streams to 660L bins in each lift core.

The completed installation gives Douglas Apartments a compliant, consistent waste and recycling solution across both lift cores, reducing manual handling for building management while supporting efficient day-to-day operations in a high-density social and community housing environment.
