The Camberwell residential development delivered by Manresa Construction is located within one of Melbourne’s established inner‑eastern suburbs, where site access, neighbouring properties, and council requirements demand careful coordination of building services. In these environments, waste management systems must be compliant, low impact, and designed to minimise disruption during daily use.
To support these requirements, Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed a fully integrated eDiverter chute system engineered specifically for medium‑density residential living. The system uses 510mm galvanised steel chute pipes servicing ground level through to Level 5, providing a single, centralised waste disposal point while enabling controlled waste flow to the basement discharge room.
Fire rated, self‑closing eDiverter intake doors are installed on each level, allowing residents to dispose of waste safely while maintaining fire compartmentation and compliance with local building regulations. The eDiverter stream includes a minor offset at discharge level to suit 1100L mobile garbage bins, supporting efficient bin handling without excessive space requirements in the basement.
To address acoustic performance and resident comfort, the chute riser was upgraded with a high‑performance acoustic lagging system. This includes a 25mm thick acoustic barrier bonded to convoluted foam, fixed directly to the chute sections to reduce noise transfer between levels. An odour relief vent and flushing spray system installed at roof level provides airflow and internal chute cleaning, helping control odours and maintain hygiene over the life of the system.
The completed eDiverter system delivers a compliant, low‑maintenance waste solution that supports reliable daily operations while protecting the long‑term performance of the building in a sensitive urban environment.
