Artisan East is a contemporary multi residential development located in the established suburb of Alphington in Melbourne’s inner north. Delivered by Ironside Constructions, the project required a reliable and compliant vertical waste management solution capable of servicing multiple cores while maintaining efficient waste room operations and resident amenity.
Elephants Foot Chute Solutions supplied and installed three independent dual 510mm galvanised steel waste chute systems across Lift A, Lift B and Lift C. The installation provides dedicated waste and recycling streams designed to support efficient vertical waste transfer throughout the building while maintaining compliance with Victorian building standards.
Across the development, a total of 20 operational waste and recycling intake levels were installed, distributed across the three cores servicing levels Ground to Level 3. Each intake level is fitted with fire‑rated hopper doors and signage to support safe and compliant waste disposal practices for residents.
The chute systems run vertically without offsets to optimise gravity flow and minimise long term maintenance requirements. Integrated vent and wash‑down cleaning systems were installed above the top service level for each chute to support airflow performance, odour management, and ongoing hygiene within the chute shaft.
All systems discharge to the Basement 1 waste room via Type A bottom discharge doors configured to suit 1100L MGBs for both waste and recycling streams. Plastic strip curtains were installed at the base discharge points to assist with containment and operational safety within the waste handling area.
The completed installation provides Ironside Constructions with a durable, compliant and low maintenance waste infrastructure solution tailored to the operational requirements of a multi core residential development, improving waste separation, reducing manual handling, and supporting long term building performance.
